In this study I am describing the strange dislocations and etchings which sometimes appear on the surface of diamonds, called trigons.
Their presence is indicative of a real diamond as they appear on no other gemstone.
A diamond does not have a completely smooth surface.
Trigons are triangular growths which reflect the subtle changes in the height of these surfaces.
I was completely fascinated by this phenomenon and decided to study the form and patterns by carrying it through to a sculpture.
This Sculpture took 8 weeks to create & is made from beech wood. |
