I have for quite a while now wanted to create a sculpture around the subject of red blood corpuscles, they have a wonderful form which I have been eager to explore.
Using my imagination to invade the microscopic world of blood chemistry I focused in on a group of red corpuscles flowing through the bloodstream carrying their essential oxygen payloads to the cells of the body.

Oxygen in the blood is sculpted from beech and took eight weeks to create.
